Why should you update your browser?

Shopping, Social networking, Emailing, Banking and Researching information are some of the most common uses for the internet and if you are like many people you probably use one or more of these functions weekly, if not daily. That being said, the browser you are using could be limiting your potential in completing these tasks and therefore should be updated regularely to make use of the latest features and security updates.

Accessing Web pages on a computer requires the use of a Web Browser. Without a Web browser you cannot view or interact with websites. How do you personally access websites like Facebook and YouTube? You might be like most computer users and use the big blue "e" to access the internet, here is what it looks like.

This icon is not a shortcut to a generic "internet" or "Web" program. It is a shortcut to a Web browser made by Microsoft, called "Internet Explorer" (also referred to as "IE"). Over the past 18 years, this browser has been the most popular Web browser. At one time, it was arguably the best browser you could use. But that is not true anymore.

The truth is that Internet Explorer 9 and even Internet Explorer 10 are not as fast, up to date, stable or secure as many other browsers, so if you are still using Internet Explorer we strongly suggest you upgrade to a different browser.

wHAT'S WRONG WITH OLD BROWSERS?

Security

Old browsers (especially Internet Explorer versions 6, 7 and 8) are less stable, and much more vulnerable to viruses, spyware, malware, and other security issues.

Those are obviously big problems to be concerned about, especially for people who shop online. So security alone is a very good reason to upgrade. But there's more to it than that.

Speed

Modern browsers are designed to be fast and easy to use, most older browsers are very slow compared to modern browsers.

Most modern websites also make use of many images, files and scripts which may cause these older browsers to stop responding for a time, load slowly or even crash as they cannot interpret the amount of information being loaded fast enough.

Display

Most old browsers cannot correctly display most modern websites as their display capabilities are very limited.

Modern browsers support more up to date Web technologies like HTML5 and CSS3, as such, using an older browser may cause your internet browsing experience to be degraded and less appealing, some elements on a website might not display at all if you are using an old browser.
